MHA Leading with Ambition- National Work Experience Programme- Birmingham

The MHA Leading with Ambition National Work Experience programme is designed for Year 12 students looking for a week’s work experience placement with a leading professional service firm. The programme provides opportunities to expand students’ knowledge of professional services, explore a variety of departments including accounts, audit and, tax as well as learn more about the fantastic opportunities available at MHA.

Who are we?

We're a dedicated team of like-minded accountancy professionals. Our clients range from top fashion retailers, leisure & hospitality businesses to renewable energy enterprises and we get involved in issues that affect gaming developers and motorsports engineers.

We are ranked among the UK’s top 15 accountancy firms, combining high levels of technical expertise with the kind of personal service often only found in smaller firms.

In 2020, we won the Best Advisory Services category of the new Business Resilience Awards, organised by Accountancy Age. Previously, we won National Firm of the Year, Tax Team of the Year and Graduate and Non-Graduate programme of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards, we internationally re-branded, and we grew substantially with a few high-profile mergers.

What will I do?

As part of the programme, you can expect to be involved in a variety of tasks/sessions including shadowing staff in various departments including audit, accounts, and tax to gain insights into what a career in different departments would look like. You will also get a better picture of what the route to becoming a chartered accountant and/or tax advisor will look like.

You will also be involved in group projects giving you the opportunity to enhance your teamwork skills and improve your confidence. Also, as part of the programme you will be involved in an employability session to help you understand and practice elements of our Early Careers selection process. You’ll get to discover more about the culture, work, and values of MHA as well as what you would be doing if you return to MHA in a full-time position.

In addition to this, you will have access to our national training system, and we have designed some learning pathways that will help you to build your skills.

Once you complete the programme, you will receive a certificate and a digital badge that you can use as a reference to boost your employability, whether you decide to apply for an apprenticeship or go to university and apply for graduate schemes in the future. Furthermore, if you will successfully complete the programme and decide to apply for our apprenticeship opportunities in the future, we will be able to fast track your application subject to your performance during the programme and our apprenticeship eligibility criteria.
