What does the role entail?

•    To prepare assignments to strict deadlines (accounts, tax, briefing notes), reporting either directly to director/partner or on more complex assignments to senior manager.
•    To liaise with the director/partner or manager to organise assignments (book with clients and organise staff).
•    To use allocated staff and provide appropriate supervision.
•    To liaise in particular with relevant departments to make sure compliance work is planned at the right time.
•    Collate project raw data and summarise into suitable format for review (e.g. first draft projections/reports).
•    Highlight issues which the manager/partner needs to discuss with the client.
•    Ensure compliance deadlines are met and liaise with tax staff to ensure work is appropriately planned.
•    Ensure jobs are adequately resourced giving due regard to staff continuity where possible.
•    Review work in progress and fee budgets on monthly basis, reporting variances from billing target to manager/partner.
•    Arrange pre-completion meetings with managers/directors/partners and completion meetings with clients on timely basis.
•    Manage own fee targets, prepare own budgets and bills for manager/partner approval.
•    Plan own and others time to maximum efficiency.
•    Give clear, unambiguous instructions to staff on assignments ensuring they are suitably trained and supervised.

•    Provide staff with feedback at the end of the assignments using the Firm's IPD framework documentation.
•    Identify when staff members may need support, provide support and refer issues where appropriate to relevant line manager.
•    To manage personal time and working practices to maximize profitability and protect the good reputation of the firm.
•    To maintain the highest standards of personal organisation, setting an example to more junior members of staff.
•    Consistently achieve good feedback from clients and staff by delivering a high standard of client service both internally and externally.
•    Comply with the firm’s policies, procedures and ethical standards.
•    Fulfil ongoing obligation to Continuing Professional Development.
•    Demonstrate attention to detail.

Essential skills 

•    ACA / ACCA qualified / nearly qualified / qualified by experience
•    A minimum of 2 years’ audit experience in an accountancy practice with a wide range of clients
•    Up to date technical knowledge of Auditing and Financial Reporting Standards 
•    The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to tailor communication appropriately
•    Experience in developing client relationships and understanding client service standards
•    A strong commercial awareness
•    Excellent attention to detail
•    A positive solutions focused attitude
•    Excellent organisational and planning skills.
•    Respectful and professional, speaking positively of others. 
•    Team player
•    Flexible to work additional hours in order to meet deadlines or unforeseen problems. 
•    Plans to make effective use of time and consistently meets deadlines.

Desirable Skills:
•    Competent in all Microsoft packages.
•    Experience of CCH Accounts production.
•    Experience of Pro Audit Software.
•    Experience of Cloud Based Accounting Software
